
TECATE SCORE BAJA 1000 & 500 CONTINUE GROWTH IN MAINSTREAM MEDIA

Aura360 and SCORE
International, the World’s foremost desert racing sanctioning body, announced
the upcoming broadcast program for the 39th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 and 38th
Tecate SCORE Baja 500. For the third consecutive year, NBC will broadcast a
one-hour special of the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. This year, NBC plans to expand
its coverage to include another one-hour program focusing on the Tecate SCORE
Baja 500. The programs are scheduled to air in December 2006. In addition to
coverage on a major national network, the 2006 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 & 500
will telecast worldwide on ESPN International and be shot in high-definition for
distribution on an HD cable network.
The legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 & 500 attract adventurers from around the world. Held annually in the treacherous and unforgiving Mexican peninsula, these world famous desert races average nearly 350 entries from 30 States and a dozen countries each year. The grueling course runs through villages along the peninsula luring nearly 200,000 spectators. Little more than half of the racers finish this incredible test of man and machine where mechanical failures and vehicle flip-overs are part of the ride.
In addition to the premiere broadcast of the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 on NBC, the SCORE desert racing series will continue to reach out to mainstream audiences through a new agreement with ESPN International. The programs featuring the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 & 500 will be distributed throughout the world through ESPN International’s networks in Latin America, the Caribbean Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Africa, Middle East, and Israel, reaching a total of 22 million households.
ESPN International is made up of 29 networks, broadcasting in over 194 countries and territories. ESPN International’s programming includes MLB, NBA, NFL, PGA Championship, U.S. Tennis Open, U.S. Golf Open, Augusta Masters, ATP Tennis Masters Series, Australian Open, French Open and the X Games.
